Actually, when you meet Sir Peregrin's ghost, he calls Sir Dan his greatest and bravest captain. So he really was a good warrior, it's just that it doesn't help when you get an arrow to the eye.

Scenery isn't needed for short comic strips, and can get in the way.  Just look at xkcd or Garfield.  The main point of the strip is the characters and the joke, though a joke isn't needed if it's good.

I have some, I just save it for serious drawings. These have all pretty much been doodles.

Also, I forgot to ask: Which drawing(s) in particular were you referring to when you said my style was interesting? I tend to screw around in different styles.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out from her waist up. But of course, the larger size means the flaws are even more glaring, and the coloring's not great. And those hands...

In case it wasn't obvious from the picture itself, I know nothing about guitars (or drawing, for that matter).

There were a few in the first thread with the extremely spherical heads and hard angles in the hair and teeth.  Reminds me of a PSOne game that I can't think of at the moment.  Shadow Maifoso, or whatever it was, was one of the ones I liked in particular.  You could go far with that, if you learnt to stylize consistently.

Also, I didn't know that was a girl from looking at it.  This is coming from ME.

Try longer hair, moving the bustline down, or giving more curve on her abdomen.  I realize that realistically a woman can look like that, but when you're stylizing, you need some defining features.

If you really wanna look like a creeper, find pictures of women online that you find attractive and study their body and face shape and see if you can mimic them in your art.  That'll leave a great impression on your family.
