Kindron looked at the guy next to him and the pirate, still smiling.

"I don't know him. This is the first time I've met him. I would like to think I'd have remembered a big walking cannon. And a pretty cool looking cannon at that."

"With the look about you, I might say that you're only telling me that to keep the reputation you have about you intact. But you're right about one thing, that pirate is something else."

Kindron looked around while he finished his drink. He got up and stretched.

"God, I'm bored. I wish something entertaining would happen," Kindron said as he sat back down.

"I remember hearing about some famous blacksmith showing up. What happened to him...?"

Kindron thought for a minute.

"Hadn't heard about that. I do need a blacksmith to repair one of my swords though. Damn thing broke on my last adventure." Kindron looked around. He hoped things wouldn't be this boring the whole time he was here, or he might have to instigate huge barfights for fun.

"Sword? A tool is no good unless it is reliable. Even a good sword will stop being good with use. The only truly reliable tools are these right here." He shows his hands to the man, giving him time to closely examine them. "They're good for anything, and won't quit working on you short of absolutely devastating damage. I got these, and a survival knife for the few things they can't do. I travel light, always."

"True, but you can break bones, and pull or tear muscles," Kindron said as he drew one of his swords. His swords are made a very valuable metal that is also very strong and very conductive. "THIS can cut through bones and muscles though. I'd like to see your fists break this thing. And it has more range than a knife. People stopped beating each other up in battle when swords were invented because swords were more efficient with the right training."

"No sword fight can be truly called fair. Remember, this is coming from someone notorious for starting bar brawls. A good blacksmith's work will always trump a bad blacksmith, but you can not tell  the difference until it might be too late. The only variable with fists is the man. Fists are free too."

"But if you break a bone or pull/tear a muscle in a fist hitting something too strong, then you end up needing a doctor, and nowadays, that costs more than a good blacksmithing. Not only that, most swords cut through more than what fists can break," Kindron said.

"You say that like you expect me to care. I know my limits, and in case I go over them I've decent experience with aid. Mostly bludgeon damage, but occasionally someone pulls a knife and I need a little patching up. You also seem to glaze over swords needing maintenance."

I never said my swords don't need maintenance. But at the same time, the fists are part of the body and the body needs maintenance too. Making sure you don't get sick and get weak, or something like that. Oxygen has to get to your hands and your nervous system has to send the signal to move your hands. Usually you can keep at top peak most of the time by staying fed and not pushing it too far. Swords are the same way. You don't overstrain them, and keep it sharp, and it will do its job. Can't tell me you haven't hit something that messed up your hand. Also, hands feel pain. Swords don't feel anything, which is a big advantage."
