I happen to think that all of my work... well. Sucks. But people say it's good and always bug me about drawing more...

Wow. Tribal is definitely the right word for these. They almost remind me of tattoos.

These are really good. These two are my favorites.

And don't worry, everyone thinks their own work sucks. People are just naturally more critical of their own works.

The only reason people see him as a combination of Cloud and Naruto is because those happen to be the most prevalent examples of anime hair and facial markings in most people's minds. Keep in mind both of those things have been around a lot longer.

The fish eyes thing happens. Eyes are tough buggers to get to point in the right direction. You just need to practice at it a bit.

Overall, it's not bad. I suggest you do more pencil sketches work, it's good practice, and it seems to be out of your comfort zone. Pushing yourself is the only way to move forward as an artist.
