so anyway, lets discuss about superpowers and how would they be useful or useless in a given situation... also any required secondary powers might be added into it.

lets talk about flight/levitation

I really don't think there is such a thing as a useless power.

Like, if you were in a corridor and guards were chasing after you, just levitate up to the ceiling.

that would imply intangibility or at least the power to pass through walls.

Levitation is a very powerful ability.  It gives you the advantage against any landbound opponent, as well as access to vantage points unavailable to others.  For example, if you became a skilled sniper, you could navigate silently through the night sky to set down in the appropriate locations to take out your opponents.

My bane would be the ability to become intangible and invisible.  I say this because having the power would instigate my paranoia.  If I couldn't control the power to an extremely precise degree, I would become worried that it were failing, and when people could see me it would likely make me irritable and uncomfortable.

I found this out in Bioshock with the stand-still-invisible plasmid.  I had a compulsion to stop after short bursts of movement to become invisible again and take in my surroundings before moving again.

My personal choice would be control of insects. They outnumbers us practically exponentially, so unless I'm on Antarctica, there'll be a bug at my side.

I found this out in Bioshock with the stand-still-invisible plasmid.  I had a compulsion to stop after short bursts of movement to become invisible again and take in my surroundings before moving again.
when you play as a spy in tem fortress 2 you have both shapeshifting and various degrees of invisibility (cloaking).
you have:
1.- invisibility for an allotted time: it charges as long you dont have activated
2.- movement sensitive invisibility: it charges while you are uncloaked (fast charge), or while you are not moving wile cloaked (slow charge).
3.- damage-activated invisibility: it triggers when you get damaged and lasts for a short time, leaves a duplicate of youself that appears dead. it also makes a loud noise after uncloaking

for the first one, it could be better to plan where to uncloak and where to cloak.
for the second you can stay cloaked as long you want, as far you don't move (since it drains the battery)
for the third one it could be a great tool for quick getaways.

for the shapeshifting its mostly a disguiser that lets you, but if it were on a realistic sense consider its almost a hologram.

Extreme Acceleration is also a possibility
if applied to flight, you could make a quick getaway. but you would also need a high resistance to pressure (or Friction), as to not die by having your skin/organs/whatever left behind by the extreme speeds.

Time control. pause/play only though. That's all I would ever want.

My only issue with time manipulation powers is that you'd still continue to age while time was slowed, causing you to die "earlier" than you would otherwise.

My only issue with time manipulation powers is that you'd still continue to age while time was frozen, causing you to die "earlier" than you would

I never thought of the possibility of Continuing to age when time was frozen (or slowed in your case). I'll elaborate further on the matter of time manipulation later.

Like in every discussion about superpowers ever, I'm going to remind you that PSI is the best power you can ever have, since it covers quite a few elemental abilities (Fire, Ice, Electricity), grants the power to heal, teleportation, telekinesis, psychic construction (shields), and assuming that animals can't actually talk in the world of Mother, the ability to talk to animals (probably an extension of telekinesis).

Of course in the games, no one seemed to be able to use ALL PSI abilities at once, so it might be limited based on personality or somesuch, but Poo had quite the arsenal of moves. It's probably a matter of training yourself to learn all of these things, which all things considered, didn't seem like something the normal person would be able to do.

tl;dr PSI is amazing pick this power and then decide whether you're defense or offense
