The One Man RPG 2

[Death Dark]

     The monster had done too much damage; you can't even move the boards.  About half of the front of the inn is collapsed in on itself in such a way that it's completely sealed.

     You hear glass breaking to the side of the inn, and a thump as something hits the ground.

I run around to see what the sound was.

[Death Dark]

     As you round the corner, you nearly knock Emily to the ground.  She squeals in fright, and nearly drops her armful of supplies.  She is dressed in a dark cloak that fully covers her, and it is apparent that she's trying to escape.

"Woah, Emily, are you alright?"

[Death Dark]

     "Shh!  Not so loud!" she whispers.  "They'll hear you!"

[Sepuku.exe]

"Who? And why are you dressed like that?"

[Death Dark]

     "The Condemned will hear you!  Quickly, go inside and grab your stuff, we need to get to shelter!"

[Sepuku.exe]

"Who are the Condemned? Those monsters I just scared off?" I ask as I climb in the window.

[Death Dark]

     "Scared off?  You don't scare off them!  Quickly now, before they find me!"

[Sepuku.exe]

I run to my room at the end of the hallway and grab my sack. I run back to the window and climb out. "So, where do we go?"

[Death Dark]

     Emily runs off, with you close behind.  She doesn't speak, and darts between buildings, checking streets and alleys before moving past them.  Eventually you reach a hatch leading beneath some sort of statue.  You go in at her command, and she shuts it behind her.  You both go down to a fire-lit room, to find it empty...besides the man with red eyes.

"Who are you!?" I shout, drawing my sword.

[Death Dark]

     The man with red eyes got up and stepped aside.  Behind him lay a man similar to the guard from earlier, but his clothes were nicer...

     "Chief Maramar!" Emily cried out.  She dropped her supplies, which she had put into a sack back when she was waiting on you, and ran to him.  "What happened Maramar?"

     "Th-the man...with red eyes...he...he saved me from the Condemned."

     The man with red eyes looks at you as if proving a point, and then walks calmly past you on his way to the exit.

"Hey, Wait! Who are you!" I shout at the man with red eyes, lowering my sword.

[Death Dark]

     The man with red eyes turned to you in a rush.  You felt his energy lurch out at you, and your vision was suddenly veiled.  You saw a world of pain and torment, evil beings reaching out for your soul, humans being tortured in the worst ways imaginable.  You could hear Emily screaming at you, not even knowing your name, but you fell into unconsciousness.

     You had a dream.  It was an odd dream.  It felt so real.  You were standing in the shelter, and the chief and Emily were there.  You looked over to the other side of the shelter, and there you stood.

     "Um...could you give us some privacy?" the chief asks your counterpart.  He nods, and leaves.  You turn your attention back to the other two.  "Emily, I have something I must confess."

     "What's that Maramar?"

     "The man with red eyes saved me from the condemned...but for a price.  I had to perform a task for him within three days, or else he would come and take my soul..."

     "And what was it?"

     "To take your life."  The chief lunged at her, and you snapped out of your dream.

     Your vision fades back in, and you see Emily sitting over you.  She was wide awake, and daylight shone in through the open hatch.

     "Oh, I see you're awake," she said cheerily.  "I haven't had the chance yet, but what's your name?"
