Um...in best case scenario, they would each deal damage 3 times.  However, if you miss once and you only have 1 strike, you're done, but if you have 3, you can still hit twice.

Towards the end of the last age, the world was flooded with a great and terrible energy that was tearing it apart, and would eventually lead to its end.  The people inhabiting the world at this time found their cities devastated, the surface of the world gone to ruin with the first wave of this power.  The people, having nearly seen the full spectrum of events for a sentient species, quickly rebounded and built structures to resist this energy, and then sought out to gain control over it.  To develop this, they constructed an arena to test their abilities out on each other, already having the ability to recover from nearly any wound.

Um, I'm trailing off now.  If someone would like to polish this up and put more details on the end, have at.  If no one can come up with a better story than this, then this is it.
