Why the hell does everyone here hate the PS3 with such a passion? I mean, seriously you act like it b!tch slapped your mother and stole your girlfriend. So what are your complaints with it?

Before everybody comes flaming, let me explain why I choose the PS3 over the 360. And I know I'm biased, but so are you.

First of all, I find more console exclusives on the PS3 interesting than ones on the 360. 360 Exclusives I like: Halo. PS3: Resistance, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, Infamous, LittleBigPlanet, ModNation Racers, Heavenly Sword, DC Universe Online, FFXIV, and Odyssey. And those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Two, I don't have to pay just to have access to PS Network or to play online. I bought the games, why the hell should i have to pay to play what I own?

Three, the Red Rings of Death happen to 1 in 3 consoles. The Yellow Light of Death happens 10% of the time, and it can be fixed for free.

Four, according to Microsoft, the 360 will probably be succeeded around 2015. Sony plans to keep the PS3 their main console well beyond that. I'd much rather spend 30 minutes updating than buy another several hundred dollar console that's likely to crap out on me.

Now, I'll cover the few issues I have with it. I spend a lot of time updating, like 2 hours every week I use it. I can live with that. Also, at the time I got mine, they were expensive, but they've since fixed that. And that's about it.

Everything that you said is a valid reason to own a PS3 instead of an Xbox 360.

Why do Microsoft fanboys support that console?

Because they're mad they have no games.

Two, I don't have to pay just to have access to PS Network or to play online. I bought the games, why the hell should i have to pay to play what I own?

Do you plan on purchasing a car? I assume you won't want to pay for gasoline because you definitely already bought that car, and you own it.

Although I will agree, for what XBL fails to offer, the price is outrageous.

Final Fantasy XIV isn't an exclusive. LittleBigPlanet is Mario, now with a map editor. Heavenly Sword is QTEs: The Game. DC Universe Online isn't an exclusive either.

However, exclusives such as: Demons' Souls, Metal Gear Online, SOCOM 4, and Valkyria Chronicles are actually ones worth playing that don't have multiplatform/predecessors that are superior.

Three, the Red Rings of Death happen to 1 in 3 consoles. The Yellow Light of Death happens 10% of the time, and it can be fixed for free.

The whole Red Ring thing seems a bit inflated to me. I've had little to no problems with my 360. However, I have had friends that have multiple ones fail on them. I see what you're saying. Also, YLoD isn't always free. People have said they've had to pay upwards of $100 USD to get it fixed. From Sony.

Four, according to Microsoft, the 360 will probably be succeeded around 2015. Sony plans to keep the PS3 their main console well beyond that. I'd much rather spend 30 minutes updating than buy another several hundred dollar console that's likely to crap out on me.

The point of playing on a console is to simply pop in a disc, and play, as opposed to playing on a PC, where you're checking to make sure you're drivers are good, etc., but even then, you only have to do every couple of months.

Before everybody comes flaming, let me explain why I choose the PS3 over the 360. And I know I'm biased, but so are you.

Why do I have to be biased? Just so you can try to make a point?

EVERYONE is biased. It's just the way people are. Nothing personal.

The car and the gas money is a bad analogy. The difference is that with a game, I've already bought the game, and I'm paying for the Internet. I've got everything I need, what else is there to charge for? Why charge for nothing? With gas money, I need gas to drive a car, but I don't already have and I'm not already paying for it. See the difference?

YLoD can be fixed by just about anybody with an internet connection and a screwdriver. Oh, and different reports for RRoD range from 20-50%. 33% is the middle ground. But it's not just that. You also have to worry about buying a 360 that may scratch up the discs, or about patches that brick the console. In fact, it takes an entire wikipedia article to cover the problems surrounding the 360.

On an unrelated note, a game with a lot of Quick Time Events isn't necessarily bad. Heavy Rain is almost entirely QTEs, and most places give it 9/10.

patches that brick the console.
That's the Wii, which releases updates that have no purpose but to brick the console.

The way you originally said definitely made it sound like you would have never paid for that gas. Quit flip flopping your argument. Just to make sure you don't deny it...

You did NOT just use the ratings of a popular video game reviewers as a basis for how good a game is. You wanna know what God Hand got from Paid Off Reviews: The Site, I mean IGN? A 4/10. God Hand. It's a wonderful beat 'em up with hilarious characters, great music, and fantastic gameplay. Wanna know what they gave Mafia II? 7/10. A great game was deep characters, fantastic music, amazing atmosphere, and very smooth gameplay.

YLoD can be fixed by just about anybody with an internet connection and a screwdriver.

And for whoever feels like voiding their warranty if something serious actually does go wrong.

So two out of thousands of games means that they can't be trusted ever?

And the warranty only covers a year (another flaw of the PS3, I admit), and I've had mine for almost three. Besides, most people don't get YLoD in the first year, so what does it matter?

There are many more. But those were two prime examples. And the well-known fact that most of the big title games that IGN reviews are paid off reviews.

There are also many other sites/ magazines that review games, and in general, they tend to score the same.

And for the sake of feeding the trolls, IGN gave God Hand a 3, not a 4. But this is the exception of the statement above.  GameSpot and Eurogamer both gave it an 8. X-play gave it the same. So, yes, IGN ripped it off, but that's just one site, and that's not good enough to say that review scores are inaccurate.

And I think I've killed this thread enough by taking it off topic, so if you'd like to keep debating, feel free to create a thread for it.

This topic is still on topic as we are still debating over the PS3.

The PS3:  It only Does "Everything."

Yeah, sure, it can do a lot.  You can surf the web on your console.  Watch movies.  That's nice.  I own a computer for surfing the internet.  Most movies I want to see I simply buy them on DVD so that other people can watch them when I'm done.  What do I buy a videogame console for?  Oh, I don't know... maybe to play videogames.

But enough about that; surely the PS3 has its up-sides!  I mean, just think of all the exclusive games for it that I want, like... like...

Well, besides that, the controller is obviously good as instead of having your thumbs rest naturally on your primary controls, you have to use the sticks that are awkwardly placed between your thumbs.  Not only that, but only your left thumb needs to be there while your right thumb does sit naturally.

Now, now, complaining about a controller is a silly thing; I mean people just get used to it, right?  I mean, let's talk about the Wiimote--I mean the... the... oh, what do they call it to keep from being sued?  Whatever it is, they OBVIOUSLY made all of this up on their own.  The games utilizing the capability of this controller don't even nearly resemble the games of a much smaller, much cheaper game system.

But there sure are some great games coming out that I've been looking forward to!  I mean, Force Unleashed 2, Fable 3, Fallout New Vegas!  These kinds of games aren't just offered on anything!  Except Force Unleashed 2, as that's on everything.  And Fable 3 and Fallout are out for the 360 as well.  Surely, though, they can't look all that great.  I mean, on a 50" plasma TV that we all have, you can clearly tell that... these games look beautiful on the 360.  But we can still complain that they don't look good enough, or that they look ever so slightly better on the PS3, because we aren't major dicks by drawing so much attention to superficial details instead of things that matter like originality, gameplay, and storyline.

Just look at the Sony commercials!  Look how heavily they imply that in the near future they will have 3-d games!  Obviously this will bring such a new level to the gameplay instead of really being completely irrelevant and something for us to toy around with.  Don't worry, they're getting to this first!  They didn't steal this from ANYONE at all.  It's just like the system updates on the PSP that got copied over to the PS3.  Yeah, everyone's doing it now.

What's that?  What about Windows Update?

</sarcasm>

I don't like the PS3 for the same reason I don't like Apple.  They're overhyped, overpriced piles of stuff that I don't need.  Everything useful for the PS3/Macintosh is available for the 360/Windows.  Hell, in some cases it's even available for the Wii/Linux.

In defense of the PS3, I would say that they often times have much more quality exclusives than the Xbawx.

The only exclusives I seem to be interested in are on the Wii.

Oh, and we were talking about RRoD versus Yellow Light or something, thereby this is relevant:

All XBox 360 consoles come with a year long warranty against E34 (system error) and a 3 year warranty against RRoD.  Anytime within those years, if the problem occurs, you can ship your 360 to Microsoft and they'll fix it for free, even covering S&H and giving you 1 month of XBL Gold for free.  Even if you're outside of the warranty, they still may fix the system for free, as they did with mine about 1.5 years after the warranty expired (E34 in this case).

Thing is, the Xbox 360 has an almost 33% failure rate, whereas the PS3's failure rate is, to my knowledge, relatively low. Both Desktop and Laptop computers are infinitely more complex animals than an Xbox 360 and all three, as long as you're doing it right, are running Microsoft created operating systems... so where is this failure coming from, anyway?

And thanks, Microsoft, for giving me a free month of something I shouldn't be paying for in the first place. Mighty white of you. Seriously, unless you're paying a subscription fee for some MMO (lolwhy), PC games are free to play online. PSN is free. Nintendo WiFi Connection is free. Hell, Valve gives for free to PCs what Microsoft forces them to put a price tag on when it goes to the Xbox. Get with the times, Microsoft.

While Laptops and Desktops are more complex than the 360 (by a slight margin), the thing you're missing out on is that Microsoft is a Software manufacturer.  It's to be expected for them not to get hardware right.  This is by no means a plea in their defense, as the XBox didn't have such problems.

Also, yes, Microsoft could due to step off the moneymaking and just let people play (Blizzard could use to re-learn that lesson as well).  However, I never really consider this as I don't really intend to play games online.  But that's me.
