2082: Year of our Salvation

Back Story:

It's the not so far future. Earth has risen to a new pinnacle of technological advances. Almost the entire world has been covered with structures and industry. Only a few reserved areas are left in which natural flora flourish. Cities are often constructed in layers, with the older buildings making up a "basement" level and the higher skyscrapers reaching far into the sky. Walk ways and roads are elevated on platforms and supports reaching between these massive skyscrapers. Often green houses can be found on top of these buildings as well to make up for the lack of natural flora and to filter down clean oxygen into the inhabited areas of the world. Unfortunately however, due to pollution the skies are often darkened by smog and the sun rarely shines through to the levels in which humans inhabit.

Yet, humans have also been survivors and in that nature have devised an escape of sorts to this dying world. Over the last couple of generations, the internet has grown from a simple information engine to a fully interactive environment. The neural transmitter was introduced which originally allowed humans to remotely access the internet without the use of a computer. Now it has been upgraded to directly transmit DNA into binary in order to transport humans into the Cyber World. Although this is already met with conflict, the next proposal has the world split in fractions.

The minds behind the neural transmitter at NeuralVision INC, have proposed to save the human race by sending everyone into the Cyber World, leaving behind self sustaining robotic technology to run the necessary servers. There are those who opposed this idea heavily as they believe instead of running from our problems we should be attempting to repair the world we have come close to ruining.

Since the Cyber World is international joined, it also presents itself as the quickest way to travel the globe. It does have many practical uses in modern life. Due to this fact, there are also many server hubs set up all over the world.

Which brings us to our next problem...

About a month ago there was a severe world wide meteor strike. This meteor strike was severely damaging to the entire globe. Many cities had to be evacuated and many more lay in a state of barely functioning. Yet the world continues on limping as it has been for more then half a century now. The meteors also brought another unexpected twist. They were composed of a very unique metal. It acts as a natural transmitter, and seems to be able to pick up wireless frequencies, especially those of the Cyber World. The meteor fragments seem to give off energy pulses which can at random trigger a person's neural transmitter sending them into the Cyber World unexpectedly.

With this development, more than ever NeuroVision has been pushing for their plan to go into effect.

Their followers and supporters are known as the Techs.

But those who are trying to rebuild after the meteor strike have another argument. Human life will not forever survive inside the Cyber World, and well we all know the dangers of self sustaining robots. No, though the human race is desperate for a better life, they believe this is not the way. This group is known as the Fleshies.

These two fractions are in open warfare. Hackers are sent to attack the other and fights happen in both the real world and Cyber World. If ever we are to move forward we need to have peace. But before that I sense we're going to have a lot more fighting...

Setting:
-Cyberpunk/Film Noir

Government:
-The world is under one government ever since a single power united all nations. There is no conflict due to race anymore and ever since gene splicing, skin colour hasn't been an issue. The government is an Oligarchy, with a representative from each region holding an equal say in the council. No official government stance has been given on whether to give up Earth or save it. The council is as dead locked on the issue as the general populace.

Locales:
-The story starts in a North American city, in a lower level club. It's shady locale, but it's the perfect place to meet a hacker or hire a gunman. As the story expands you will encounter other locales across the world, most of which will be set in a "Cyberpunk" city. The other main locale is of course the Cyber World. Though the main Cyber City; Utopia, is a very Neo-Futuristic locale (Think tall, crystalline glowing buildings), the main attraction to the Cyber World is that it can be changed to represent just about anything. As such the various realms of the Cyber World will change accordingly and you will often find yourself in the Cyber World at random due to meteor rocks or at will thanks to the neural transmitter.

Technology:
-While the face of the earth has changed drastically, most of the emphasis in technological advances was put into networking technology and the further development of the computers and their associate technologies. In light of this, all real world guns still fire bullets, all cars still drive on the ground. Cities are often connected by bullet trains and the Cyber World can also be used for even faster travel. But for the most part most real world technologies are not much different from what you or I are used to.

Race: Human always, but you may add some gene splicing or cybernetic implants/upgrades to your character.
Appearance: Your character's physical appearance. The more detailed the description the better for both I and your fellow roleplayers.
Height: Self Explanitory
Weight: Self Explanitory
Personality: Self Explanitory
Alignment: Is your character a Tech, or perhaps a Fleshie? Maybe they stand neutral, or maybe they're in the grey area, not wanting to be involved but sympathizing with one side over another. Or perhaps they're even a double agent?
Career: Does your character have a standard job? Or maybe he/she involves themselves in something a bit more shady.
Equipment: Any equipment your character may carry. Note you're not likely to be wearing any sort of armour unless you're part of the armed forces or police force. Even then you're still not likely to be wearing "armour".
Goals: Why do you do what you do?
Skills: Any special abilites you have?(Hacker, Weapon Skills, Disguise) Please elaborate with detail.

Lord Wraith: Dante "System_Joker" Avison
Name: Dante "System_Joker" Avison
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Race: Human, has ocular implants in his eyes allowing them to not only change colour but also to see in infrared and in complete darkness as well as translate any written code. As well has minor skeletal augmentation which allows him to endure a higher amount of stress but has no effect on his strength or speed.
Appearance: Dante is never seen without his sunglasses, this item is made of two small round lenses that just cover his eyes with silver arms and nose. He wears it to hide his colour shifting eyes. His eye is naturally black and he wears in in a tousled "whatever" manner with various streaks and highlights of blue and purple littered throughout it. He is fairly well built from years of staying on the run. He wears a leather jacket that's becoming a little rough looking from wear and age over top of a red long sleeved t-shirt. Dark blue jeans cover his legs with a thick leather belt around his waist. This belt has a special buckle that acts as an emergency over ride in case of hacking into his ocular implants. He wears fingerless gloves and motorcycle boots. Has a small earing in his left ear and a necklace around his neck. His body is scarred in a couple places from various run ins with opposing activists. These scars include his right cheek bone, his left shoulder blade and one just above his heart.

Weight: 160lbs
Personality: Dante can be very apathetic, though he does care about his cause. He's very opinionated and will voice it at any cost. He can be a heavy drinker if discouraged and when under the effect of alcohol is often quick tempered and quite irrational. Often come off crude and brash.
Alignment: Aligned with the Fleshies, in fact he's a top member of the resistance.
Career: One of the top activists in the cause against the Cyber World. Dante is a very accomplished programmer and hacker.
Equipment: Dante carries a small handgun and a taser. As well as 2082's version of a "smartphone". An all inclusive device which acts as a phone, GPS, information portal, camera and of course, Dante's is somewhat questionable legally upgraded for his hacking abilities. This "smartphone" also contains Dante's cyber profile as System_Joker for when Dante is transported into the Cyber World.
Goals: To stop NeuroVision from convincing everyone to give up their real lives for a fantasy one inside the Cyber World.
Skills: Dante can hack most systems relative ease and read most cyber codes as well as being an expert programmer. He's a capable fighter and a decent marksman. Inside the Cyber World, he has become an accomplished fencer.
History: As a boy, Dante was found to be a natural with computer systems. Constructing and reprogramming entire systems in quite a short time. As he grew, he became noticed for his abilities to program complex algorithms as well as to hack into system though impenetrable. Eventually however he became disgusted with the Cyber World as it felt like just living a lie. So he began sabotaging it under the alias of System_Joker. Believing any system's defense to be a joke to him. It was a short time after this that he joined ranks with the Fleshies, his knowledge of technology and will to act quickly rising him through the ranks.
