All I was saying that the claims of having helped fake it are dubious. We all know you trounced me in this argument, and I really don't want to go back to that again.

However, there is something I'd like to point out.

Things like Nessie and Bigfoot are in today's culture.  Ever wonder why so many alien abductions "happen" in the Americas?  They don't in Asian cultures.  Instead, in the similar cases, they're visited by ghosts or spirits.  Why?  Because they don't "have" aliens in their culture, they have spirits.  People see, witness, what they wish to see.  It's how the mind works.

This isn't entirely true. Not the point you were trying to make, as that's valid, and I agree with it. Just the example you gave. There are still plenty of "alien sightings" in Asia, and we in the Americas have "spirit sightings," as well. I think a better example would be comparing the modern "alien abductions" to the old "Changeling" tales

While they exist, it'd be more telling to investigate what kinds of things they get into.  I can pretty reliably predict the subject matter of any hallucinations I may have in the future (but I'll spare you the details).

Well all i can say is that we have the burden of disproving something...it is like the law if somebody says that it is true then it is until it can be disproved. Look at the world being flat, everybody thought that was true until it was proven to be round.  They had no idea whether or not it was truly flat.  So as humans we may be inclined to believe with little or no prior proof.  The only way in some instances we will believe that something is indeed false is when it is shown to be false.

It's not so much true, so much as they argue the fallacy that if it can't be disproven, it must be real. At the point, there's no arguing, because they obviously don't follow the same logic patterns as everyone else.

Look at the world being flat, everybody thought that was true until it was proven to be round.  They had no idea whether or not it was truly flat.

Only uneducated people truly had no idea of the dimensions and form of the Earth.  The general populace knew it was round.

Well actually, if you go back to the days before the Greek mathematicians proved that the Earth is probably round, I'm sure a lot of people might have believed it to be flat. Or maybe they thought it was round. Or square. Or maybe infinitely expansive in all directions. We'd have to ask them, but the sad thing is, people who believe the world is anything but round end up dying of "I believe the world isn't round" disease.
