Children's Card Games.

As a little recap:

Death Dark's argument for Magic:

[Yesterday at 08:55:03 PM] del ban Forte: A deck that spams high attacking monsters requires just as much strategy as a deck that spams low attacking monsters

[Yesterday at 08:56:29 PM] del ban Death Dark: When you play, you have to consider what the other player has in hand for their next turn, what card they may draw, what magic/trap cards they have, and what monsters they have.

[Yesterday at 08:57:01 PM] del ban Forte: and whether or not to play card destruction and give us both a new hand.

[Yesterday at 08:57:08 PM] del ban Forte: which I do at terrible times

[Yesterday at 08:57:14 PM] del ban Forte: and fail to do when it would win me the game

[Yesterday at 08:57:38 PM] del ban Death Dark: In Magic, when you play you have to consider what the other player has in hand for Right Now, how much mana they have untapped, what color(s) they are, what card(s) they may draw, what spells they may play, what enchantments/artifacts they have, what

[Yesterday at 08:57:44 PM] del ban Death Dark: creatures they have.

[Yesterday at 09:01:01 PM] del ban Death Dark: If they're green, will they Fog? (Waboku)

[Yesterday at 09:01:10 PM] del ban Death Dark: Or maybe they'll suddenly buff their creatures.

[Yesterday at 09:01:23 PM] del ban Death Dark: That 3/2 running at you may not stay a 3/2.

[Yesterday at 09:01:41 PM] del ban Death Dark: If they're white, will they exile your stuff?

[Yesterday at 09:01:51 PM] del ban Death Dark: How many millions of other small creatures do they have?

[Yesterday at 09:02:04 PM] del ban Death Dark: Will they prevent the damage you deal, or just gain life?

[Yesterday at 09:02:13 PM] del ban Death Dark: If they're blue, will they counter your spells?

[Yesterday at 09:02:25 PM] del ban Death Dark: Or perhaps take control of your creatures?

[Yesterday at 09:02:49 PM] del ban Death Dark: Maybe it'll just be returned to your hand.

[Yesterday at 09:02:54 PM] del ban Death Dark: Or cloned.

[Yesterday at 09:03:07 PM] del ban Death Dark: If they're black, do they have a doom blade?

[Yesterday at 09:03:11 PM] del ban Death Dark: That's a silly question.

[Yesterday at 09:03:17 PM] del ban Death Dark: How many doom blades do they have?

[Yesterday at 09:03:37 PM] del ban Death Dark: How well will they return things to their graveyard?

[Yesterday at 09:03:53 PM] del ban Death Dark: Will they leech life off of you, or sacrifice their own to kill you faster?

[Yesterday at 09:04:01 PM] del ban Death Dark: If they're red

[Yesterday at 09:04:09 PM] del ban Death Dark: How fast is the damage going to come?

[Yesterday at 09:04:17 PM] del ban Death Dark: Are they going to be noncombat?

[Yesterday at 09:04:24 PM] del ban Death Dark: Perhaps a bunch of goblins.

[Yesterday at 09:04:41 PM] del ban Death Dark: How much crap will they be destroying?

[Yesterday at 09:04:50 PM] del ban Death Dark: Will they hurt themselves in the process?

[Yesterday at 09:05:06 PM] del ban Death Dark: And I haven't even gotten into keyword decks.

Forte's argument for Duel Monsters/Yugioh/Card Games on Motorcycles:

[Yesterday at 11:11:02 PM] del ban Forte: Well, looks like to me that all of the deck types represented in Magic are even better represented in yugioh.

[Yesterday at 11:11:58 PM] del ban Forte: When you say exile, I think of remove from play.

[Yesterday at 11:12:07 PM] del ban Forte: So white is the Different Dimension deck.

[Yesterday at 11:12:30 PM] del ban Forte: The DD decks are able to gain life, but they don't have too much bur.

[Yesterday at 11:12:35 PM] del ban Forte: burn, even.

[Yesterday at 11:13:09 PM] del ban Forte: Then the green deck, buffing and debuffing

[Yesterday at 11:13:19 PM] del ban Forte: Almost the exact same principal as my Gradius deck

[Yesterday at 11:13:34 PM] del ban Forte: Also a certain build of Naturia can do that.

[Yesterday at 11:13:58 PM] del ban Forte: Blue, the counter fairies, gaining for activating things to stop you.

[Yesterday at 11:14:26 PM] del ban Forte: And more fittingly, the Ice Barrier cards in with the color scheme of blue.

[Yesterday at 11:14:32 PM] del ban Forte: Returning cards to hand is their specialty

[Yesterday at 11:14:45 PM] del ban Forte: And ditching cards.

[Yesterday at 11:15:18 PM] del ban Forte: Black being able to control graveyards seems pretty reminiscient of zombies

[Yesterday at 11:15:37 PM] del ban Forte: But when you ask what your opponent's holding and question your moves about it, that reflects back to Kalut and Honest

[Yesterday at 11:16:25 PM] del ban Forte: Red overpowering you is like most swarm decks.

[Yesterday at 11:17:12 PM] del ban Forte: Fact is, the yugioh you remember is not the yugioh of now.

[Yesterday at 11:17:24 PM] del ban Forte: There's a ton of possible decks and a ton of strategies.

[Yesterday at 11:17:30 PM] del ban Forte: Two of the same decks can be run completely different.

[Yesterday at 11:19:30 PM] del ban Forte: And your game

[Yesterday at 11:19:34 PM] del ban Forte: Does not have Gradius cards.

[Yesterday at 11:19:43 PM] del ban Forte: Come at me, bro.

And your magic cards don't get to be nice a pretty like this:

You seem to misunderstand me.  I was not saying that these are the only things those colors can do.

White doesn't just exile; exiling is just one property that white has.  Much the same, Green doesn't just buff, but also throws out lands, has strong power-creatures, and doesn't debuff, that's a black thing.  You claimed that what the Magic colors represent is represented better in Yu-Gi-Oh!, but how is it possible to represent something better than representing it with itself?  Or is there some case where A > A?

As for talking about swarm, decks, well, in Magic they actually work.  With an unlimited field size, it's completely possible to run 3000+ ants at someone for the win.  In Yu-Gi-Oh!, this isn't so much.

With the Japanification of cardgames, we see the same reoccurring power-overload.  As with how in DBZ their power levels kept shooting up, until they stopped logging them in the millions, Yu-Gi-Oh! seems to want to impress people with large numbers.  Irrelevantly large numbers.  In Magic, we have the calmer approach of the Western game where the attack power of 5 is a quarter of your life.

If that's your excuse for a pretty card...

One last thing:  what the hell is the point of levels in Yu-Gi-Oh!?  There's little to no difference between cards levels 1-4, so why have them?

Since the introduction of Synchro Monsters, levels have become extremely important. Other cards, such as One For One, Burden of the Mighty, Gravity Bind, Level Limit Areas A and B, Cards of Consonance... the list goes on, have made the discernment between 1-4, even 5-6 important.

So, it's the cards that define the usefulness of the property of the card, not the property of itself?  That doesn't sound completely backwards at all.

That's how you make a diverse game - Take old crap and then make something from it. And if I'm correct, Magic pretends that its old crap didn't happen? Doesn't your official rules disallow playing with cards outside of the current core set?

Nope.  There are categories of play, to introduce further strategy, such as Standard (which includes a number of recent blocks), Extended (which includes more blocks than Standard), and Vintage/Legacy (which includes all cards, though some are banned or restricted).  Further, they don't find a need to make something useful out of their old stuff, but instead put in intense testing to provide more useful stuff now, including making sure it doesn't break when used in combination with other cards so that they don't have to end up banning too many cards (something which Yu-Gi-Oh! could learn a bit of).

Maybe no one in the entire competitive Magic world can think well enough to put two cards together to make, literally, the ultimate combo.

They have, multiple times.  Which is why some cards are now banned.

somehow syncros are better in stats than their original versions.
by some atk or def or some efect added to it.

this adds some variety to your usual strategy:
realease a weak monster to get a powerful monster.
or syncro summon the same monster with enchanced stats.

i mean what would you do, 1 for the 1 or 2 for the same but more powerful.

also it doesnt help that the levels used for the summon needs to be the same for the summoned monster.

It might as well have been with a "MY CARDS' POWER LEVELS ARE HIGHER THAN YOURS' " discussion launching it.
