The One Man RPG 4

"Sure. What can I start on?"

[Death Dark]

     "Our first concern is going into all the houses and finding survivors.  We can scavenge later."  She turns her attention to the boy.  "You seem like you're capable -- can you take him with you?"

     "Honestly, he'd slow me down.  I need space to swing."

     "Right."  She looks back to you.  "Come with me and watch my back."

"Alright. Do you have a weapon I can borrow?"

[Death Dark]

     "Is your board not sufficient?"

"Well, I guess it will do, but it's really heavy..."

[Death Dark]

     "You got anything he could use?"

     "No, all I have is my axe."

     "Nothing in the houses?"

     "You seem well-armed, why don't you let him borrow one of yours?"

     "I... don't like people using my things."

     He rolled his eyes.  "We don't have time for this!"

     "Then the board will suffice."

     "We need him to be useful.  Otherwise, he'll just get you killed."

     "Let's go."

     The boy shoos her away before retreating into the house.  The woman leads you to another, pulling out her pistol along the way.  It's a smooth, metallic blue with golden filigree dancing down the barrel of what seems to be a flintlock pistol.  But there's something odd about it -- there's  no way to load it.

     "Ready?" she asks.

I brandish my wood and stand close to her.

"Ready."

[Death Dark]

     She pulls the hammer back and smoothly opens the door in one motion.  Inside, there's a... what seems to be a person in some deep state of decay crouched over a body, picking it organs out.  It sees you and issues the gurgled cry you heard earlier.  The woman fires after it, the gun giving off a sharp "clack," missing, as it flees into the back rooms of the house.

I chase after it with my wood held high.

[Death Dark]

     The woman grabs you by the back of the shirt.

     "Wait, there could be more of them in here."

     She slips past you and leans against the wall separating the main room from the hallway that leads back further into the house.  You can see down it up until the corner that turns left, and you can assume to hold the bedrooms.

     The woman wraps the cord around her hand, and pulls out a rather sizable glowing crystal.  She cocks the hammer again, and motions for you to go ahead.

I slowly walk down the hallway towards the nearest door, then kick it in.
